Woman murders roomate with bread knife over $10

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has recently made a significant stride in a fatal stabbing case that transpired earlier this month in the city of Seat Pleasant.

The diligent efforts of the investigators have led to the identification and arrest of one suspect, while the manhunt for a second suspect is still underway, as reported by NBC Washington.

Unraveling the details of the crime

The unfortunate victim of this heinous act was a 62-year-old gentleman named Mervyn Daniel, who resided in Capitol Heights. The suspects, who intriguingly shared the same residence as Daniel, have been identified as Jesse Culley, aged 37, and Raykia Poston, aged 21, both hailing from Capitol Heights.

On the fateful afternoon of July 8, 2023, patrol officers from both the Seat Pleasant Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department were summoned to the 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway.

The call was in response to a reported stabbing incident. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene.

Daniel was found in an unresponsive state inside a local restaurant, suffering from a severe stab wound from a restaurant bread knife. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, but despite the best efforts of the medical team, he was later pronounced dead.

Charges leveled and current status of the suspects

Through meticulous investigation and gathering of evidence, the detectives were able to zero in on both Culley and Poston as the prime suspects in this casee.

Poston is currently facing grave charges of first-degree murder and related charges for her alleged involvement in the stabbing of Daniel. Culley, on the other hand, has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

The preliminary findings of the investigation suggest that the fatal stabbing was the unfortunate culmination of a heated dispute over a missing $10.

As it stands, Culley has been apprehended and is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections. However, Poston remains elusive, and an arrest warrant has been issued against her. The police are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to her capture.

Public assistance sought in the investigation
