Sheriff Brings Baby Back To Life After Horrific Crash

In a terrifying moment that turned into a miraculous rescue, Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove saved an infant's life amidst the wreckage of a severe car crash in Englewood, Florida.

Following a catastrophic collision involving the child's family and a motorcycle, Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove's quick response and life-saving actions brought hope and light to a dire situation.

The incident occurred around 7:37 pm on February 8, along a busy roadway in Englewood, roughly 50 miles north of Fort Myers. It was a normal evening that turned tragic when the Foley family's vehicle was struck by a motorcycle speeding at over 100 miles per hour.

The impact left the car in ruins and the motorcyclist dead at the scene.

A Race Against Time for a Deputy's Heroic Act

In the chaos that followed, Deputy Sgt. Dave Musgrove sprang into action, his bodycam and dashcam capturing every heart-stopping moment. Musgrove extracted an infant, Lola Foley, from the crushed vehicle, performing chest compressions on the side of the road to save her life. Amid the wreckage and despair, his determination shone through.

Kayleigh Foley, the devastated mother of the children, could be heard pleading for her baby's life. 'My baby, no! She's right there,' she cried out as Musgrove worked tirelessly to free Lola from the trapped car seat. The tense moments were filled with fear and uncertainty as Kayleigh asked, 'Is she dead, please, is she dead?'

Despite the dire circumstances, Lola Foley was given a fighting chance thanks to Musgrove's immediate and effective response. After receiving crucial first aid, the infant showed signs of life, breathing and pulsating once again under Musgrove's care.

The Aftermath and a Slow Road to Recovery

Following the accident, the Foley family faced an uphill battle. Lola, after being rushed to the hospital, experienced frequent seizures but began showing progress by regaining some mobility in her legs and arms. Her mother, Kayleigh, and sibling are on their way to recovery, with the community rallying around them for support.

In recognition of his bravery and quick action, Sgt. Musgrove was lauded as a hero by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office and Sheriff Bill Prummel.

'The actions of Sgt. Musgrove is to be commended. His poise and calm demeanor in a scene of chaos and tragedy ultimately saved the life of a beautiful child,' Sheriff Prummel remarked, highlighting the gravity of Musgrove's intervention.

The tragedy has forged an unexpected bond between Musgrove and the Foley family, with Musgrove being asked to become Lola's honorary uncle. This touching gesture underscores the deep gratitude felt by the family towards the deputy who saved their daughter's life.
