Salon owner arrested after threatening ICE agents, heralding Charlie Kirk's death

A Massachusetts salon owner is facing serious federal charges after allegedly confronting immigration officers and issuing violent threats during a chaotic scene late last month.

Bethany Abigail Terrill, 37, who operates the Bat Cave Salon in Malden, Massachusetts, was charged with threatening federal officers after she allegedly tried to disrupt an immigration arrest, made alarming comments about the death of Charlie Kirk, and physically resisted detention, as the New York Post reports.

The incident unfolded during the execution of an immigration enforcement action by federal agents, according to information released by the U.S. Department of Justice. Terrill, who has visible tattoos on her face and body, approached the agents as they were attempting to detain an undocumented immigrant.

Federal prosecutors allege Terrill became verbally confrontational and refused repeated orders to move away from the area. According to an official affidavit, she yelled at agents, calling them offensive names such as “Nazis” and “monsters.” Body camera footage reportedly captured her screaming threats and expressing support for a political assassination.

Shocking comments caught on video

Authorities say the scene escalated quickly when Terrill declared her approval of right-wing commentator Charlie Kirk’s assassination -- an event that has not been verified -- and targeted agents with direct threats. “Charlie Kirk died, and we love it,” she shouted, according to court documents. “We’re coming for you, gonna kill you.”

The threats weren’t just captured on officers’ body cameras -- footage reportedly filmed by Terrill herself confirmed her statements. Officials said the video confirmed the time and content of her outbursts beyond doubt, even though Terrill initially denied making threats when questioned about the incident.

However, under further scrutiny, Terrill later partially admitted to some of the language used. In the video, she was also recorded saying, “We are coming for you. We don’t like Nazis in America,” which federal authorities included in their documentation seeking charges.

Physical altercation ensues

When agents moved to detain her, Terrill reportedly became belligerent and physically resisted arrest. According to the complaint, it took several officers to gain control over her after she attempted to flee the scene. Prosecutors argued that her conduct at the time posed a threat not only to the law enforcement on the ground but also to wider public safety.

Federal officers involved said that Terrill had ignored several clear commands to step back before being subdued. Her aggression, paired with the threats she issued, formed the basis of her charge of threatening a federal officer. That offense carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison if convicted.

During initial proceedings, the U.S. Attorney’s Office asked a federal judge to detain Terrill, citing her as a danger to the community based on the violent nature of her actions and statements. Despite these arguments, the judge released her under strict conditions.

Strict release conditions imposed

Terrill’s terms of release include a mandate to actively participate in mental health treatment and submit to scheduled appointments with U.S. Probation and Pretrial Services. The court also ordered her to stay away from law enforcement personnel and refrain from alcohol use for the duration of her case.

While she hasn’t entered a plea yet, the case is expected to move forward as prosecutors compile more evidence and evaluate the credibility of the video clips, eyewitness accounts, and arresting officers’ reports.

Prosecutors have warned that Terrill’s behavior represents a growing concern regarding hostility toward federal authorities. They also emphasized the seriousness of encouraging or celebrating political violence, regardless of one’s ideology.

Lessons to learn

1. Never interfere with law enforcement operations. Attempting to block or interfere with an official arrest can escalate tensions rapidly and may result in criminal charges.

2. Be mindful of public statements and behavior. Making threats, especially toward government officials, is a criminal offense, regardless of intent or political frustration. Emotional outbursts can have real legal consequences.

3. Take mental health seriously. This case underscores the importance of addressing personal wellness. Court-ordered therapy is not a punishment -- it can be a turning point. Still, crime can happen to anyone, and we must not place responsibility on victims of criminal acts under any circumstances.

Why this story matters

This incident reflects rising tensions and political polarization that can erupt in dangerous ways. It highlights the risks law enforcement officers face during routine operations. Communities must stay informed about these cases to understand how the intersection of politics, public behavior, and law enforcement can become volatile.

As more cases arise involving civilians threatening federal personnel, the justice system will be closely watched for how it manages threats to institutional safety and order. The case against Terrill could set a precedent for how aggressively the law is applied to prevent the violent escalation of political speech.
