NFL star Hugh Douglas son dies from car crash

Two promising young men, Hugh Douglas and Christion Files Jr., members of the class of 2025 at Morehouse College, tragically lost their lives in a car accident.

Hugh Douglas, who many might recognize as the namesake of the former NFL star and current radio personality, was following in his father's footsteps of excellence and achievements.

Douglas was a part of Morehouse College's Business Association and was both a Goldman Sachs and an AltFinance Fellow. His father, Hugh Douglas, is currently a co-host on 94.1 WIP's "The Midday Show" in Philadelphia, having had a ten-year NFL career primarily with the Philadelphia Eagles.

On the other hand, Christion Files Jr. showcased his commitment and versatility as the co-captain of Morehouse’s Track & Field team, majoring in business administration, and taking roles in both the Morehouse Business Association and the Junior Class Council.

Tributes pour in for the departed

The accident occurred around 5 p.m. local time. Files, who was driving, tried to overtake another vehicle around a curve "at a high rate of speed when the car left the road."

The news of their passing sent shockwaves through the community, leading to an outpour of grief and support from various quarters.

A Morehouse spokesperson, reflecting on the tragic incident, emphasized the legacy both students left behind. Specifically, that they were already a better man than him, Daily Caller reported.

This poignant statement came from the elder Hugh Douglas, who shared a series of photos of his son on X, once known as Twitter.

Additionally, Morehouse College, in an official statement, announced the loss of these two young men, signifying a void that would be challenging to fill.

A look into the legacy of the Douglas family

The senior Douglas, besides his illustrious radio career, was a formidable presence in the NFL.

Playing as a defensive end from 1995 to 2004, he was initially drafted by the New York Jets, Bleacher Report reported.

However, most of his remarkable career was spent with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles honored his contributions and achievements by inducting him into their Hall of Fame in the previous season.

What made the students stand out

Hugh Douglas, the junior, aside from his academic achievements, was known for his involvement in various programs and fellowships.

Similarly, Files Jr., with his sports achievements and leadership roles, showed promise of a bright future.

Both of them started their junior year recently, making their untimely departure even more heart-wrenching.
