Matthew Perry's $120M Trust Fund and Estate Details Revealed After Tragic Death

New filings show Matthew Perry's well-planned financial legacy, including a substantial trust fund and notable beneficiaries.

According to Daily Mail, it was discovered that Perry had additional assets of $1.5 million. His will, written in 2009, named the Alvy Singer Living Trust the primary beneficiary of most of his assets.

Matthew Perry, known globally for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, passed away at 54 due to a ketamine overdose, aggravated by additional health conditions. This unforeseen event transpired on October 28, 2023, marking a sad day in Hollywood.

Declining Health and Wealth Discrepancies

Leading up to his death, Perry was involved in treatment for depression, utilizing ketamine infusion therapy.

His sudden death was officially marked as accidental by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, who cited drowning and coronary artery disease as contributing factors, along with the high levels of ketamine.

In the financial aftermath, documents showed that Perry's wealth totaled $1,596,914.47, contrary to previous estimations citing over $1 million.

Though renowned for his massive earnings, Perry owned no property in California at the time of his death.

Perry's Property Management

Perry's last real estate transaction involved purchasing a home in Hollywood Hills for $5,195,000 on May 31, 2023.

This home was listed for sale despite his ownership, presumably because Perry was residing in a rented home in Pacific Palisades during renovations.

Perry’s will, drafted in 2009, detailed the Alvy Singer Living Trust as the primary entity for his estate's management. This trust benefits his parents, John Perry and Suzanne Morrison, half-sister Caitlin Morrison, and ex-girlfriend Rachel Dunn.

Perry's estate included his memoir, published in 2022, which now falls under his parents' guardianship. Surprisingly, Perry still managed to earn around $20 million annually from residuals of the Friends TV show, demonstrating his enduring financial legacy.

Matthew Perry's Untimely Death

On the fateful day of October 28, Perry suffered from the effects not just of ketamine but also cardiovascular complications and respiratory depression.

The medical examiner noted the presence of Buprenorphine as contributory, given its additive effects with ketamine.

Current investigations are closely examining the source of ketamine that led to Perry's death. A law enforcement source mentioned that the probe is nearing its end, albeit with potential charges pending against individuals involved.

After his death, immediate legal processes commenced. On October 29, 2023, an autopsy confirmed the accidental nature of his death, and recent court filings have since shed light on the specific allocations within his estate.

Interestingly, personal relationships of Perry also surfaced. Kayti Edwards, another ex-girlfriend, clarified their casual dating history around 2006, depicting a more complex picture of his personal life.

Why This Story Matters

This story matters because it underscores the vulnerability even among the successful and celebrated. It serves as a harsh reminder of the ongoing struggle many face with mental health and substance use, irrespective of their financial or celebrity status.

In conclusion, the untimely death of Matthew Perry opens several discussions—from mental health awareness and substance abuse to the importance of precise estate planning. This report serves as both a tribute and a crucial societal reflection prompted by the life and unfortunate demise of a beloved actor.
