In a harrowing tragedy in South Bend, a  10-year-old foster child died from severe injuries inflicted by his foster mother.

According to Daily Mail, Dakota Levi Stevens was found dead minutes after asking a neighbor to adopt him to escape his abusive foster parents.

Dakota Levi Stevens was undergoing another stint of foster care under Jennifer Lee Wilson, who had previously provided respite care for him two years ago.

Dakota and his sister had been removed from their biological parents due to concerns around drug use, circulating through various foster homes before landing back with Wilson early in April.

On April 25, the situation escalated perilously. Dakota ran to a neighbor’s house, desperately seeking help after enduring physical abuse and being restricted from contacting his caseworker.
