Female Rapper Fatally Shot At Oakland Beauty Store Event
The vibrant celebration of a new business opening in Oakland ended in tragedy as a young female rapper was killed.
Daily Mail reported that Alliauna Green, known artistically as Tan DaGod, lost her life to gun violence during a promotional event she hosted.
Last Saturday, during the much-anticipated grand opening of Glamor Beauty Supply on Telegraph Avenue, Alliauna Green, 27, mingled with fans and celebrated her burgeoning music career.
Instagram Posts Capture Pre-Attack Festivity
Green had taken to Instagram earlier that day to share clips and photographs of the event, which showed a crowd of supporters, including families with children, gathered in excitement.
However, the atmosphere of festivity turned horrific around 5 pm when an attacker, described by witnesses as a black male wearing a hoodie, opened fire. According to Vincent, an eyewitness and employee at a nearby shop, the shots were initially mistaken for part of the music until they became unmistakably loud and chaotic.
Vincent recounted the terrifying moment:
I hear some shots and I thought the shots were part of the music, the performance, then I heard three really loud shots. I think the rapper was screaming, ‘I'm hit, I'm hit,’ and she was just laying on the ground until medics came.
Community Shaken by Unexpected Violence
Another bystander, Sul Cho, from a neighboring restaurant, noted the calculated brutality of the attack. "He was targeting her only, 'cause I saw it. He wasn’t shooting at everybody, he was just picking her," Cho observed, suggesting a premeditated assault against Green.
The immediate aftermath saw the injured rapper rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The shooting also wounded another woman, who fortunately survived.
The community and Green’s fans quickly gathered at the scene to honor her memory, placing flowers and messages of condolence. Hip-hop artist Mistah F.A.B., who knew Green, reflected the sorrow of many with his tribute on Instagram, saying, "God had other plans."
In response to the tragedy, police have launched an investigation, relying on witness accounts and any available surveillance footage. Despite these efforts, the identity of the shooter and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Past Controversies Surrounding the Victim
Before her untimely death, Green was no stranger to controversy and conflict. She previously served prison time for shooting her ex-boyfriend in self-defense in 2020.
Additionally, her music and public persona included provocative elements, like a music video where she portrayed a fake tombstone of her late ex.
"You should've never died. You should've never played with me because then I gotta take it to the third degree," Green said in one of her controversial videos, underlining her bold and raw approach to personal disputes and artistic expression.
"I got this to be extra f****** childish, making families mad - oh well, cause they ain’t gonna do sh** about it," she said in another clip, showcasing her contentious attitude.
