Celebrated Voice Actor David Graham Dies At 99

The world of animation and voice acting mourns the loss of a legend.

According to Decider, David Graham, the prolific voice actor known for his iconic roles in "Peppa Pig" and "Thunderbirds," has died at the age of 99.

Jamie Anderson, son of "Thunderbirds" creator Gerry Anderson, confirmed the news on social media.

Graham's illustrious career spanned over seven decades, beginning in 1952 and continuing until 2023. He was best known for voicing Grandpa Pig in the hit children's series "Peppa Pig" and for his roles in the classic science fiction series "Thunderbirds."

A Legacy of Memorable Characters

Graham's talent for bringing characters to life through his voice was unparalleled. In addition to his work on "Peppa Pig," he was also recognized for voicing the Daleks in the original "Doctor Who" series from 1963 to 1966.

One of Graham's most enduring roles was that of Parker, Lady Penelope's butler and chauffeur, in "Thunderbirds."

He originated the character in 1965 and was the only original cast member to return for the 2015 reboot, starring alongside Rosamund Pike.

In a 2015 interview, Graham shared the inspiration behind Parker's distinctive voice. He revealed that the character's accent was partially based on a waiter he had encountered, who was a former royal butler.

A Career That Spanned Generations

His dedication to his craft was evident in his longevity. Graham's final credited role was in 2023, voicing Grandpa Pig one last time in the "Peppa Pig: World Adventures" video game.

Jamie Anderson's statement to the BBC highlighted the impact Graham had on fans of all ages. He mentioned that just weeks before Graham's passing, 2,000 Anderson fans had gathered at a concert in Birmingham to sing him a happy birthday.

"From the Daleks to Grandpa Pig and numerous voices for Anderson shows including Brains, Gordon Tracy and the iconic Parker. He will be sorely missed," Jamie Anderson said.
