TikTok Star Mr Prada Faces Murder Charges

A viral content creator's career takes a dark turn as legal troubles mount.

NBC News reported that Terryon Thomas, known to his nearly 4 million TikTok followers as Mr Prada, has been charged with second-degree murder and obstruction of justice.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office in Louisiana announced these charges on Thursday, marking a significant escalation in the case against the 20-year-old social media personality.

The charges stem from an investigation into the death of William Nicholas Abraham, a 69-year-old therapist from Baton Rouge. Abraham's body was discovered on Sunday along a highway near Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Law enforcement officials determined that blunt force trauma was the cause of death, immediately treating the case as a homicide.

From Social Media Fame To Criminal Investigation

Thomas's rise to fame on TikTok was characterized by his comedic content, which garnered him millions of followers. However, his online persona has been overshadowed by the serious criminal allegations he now faces. The creator was initially arrested in Dallas on Tuesday following a warrant issued by the Baton Rouge Police Department.

The initial charges included aggravated criminal damage to property, resisting an officer, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. These charges were related to the suspicion that Thomas had stolen Abraham's vehicle. As the investigation progressed, the severity of the charges increased dramatically with the addition of second-degree murder.

The case has captured significant attention on social media platforms, with speculation about the relationship between Thomas and Abraham spreading rapidly. Many posts on TikTok and X, formerly known as Twitter, have garnered millions of views as users discuss and theorize about the case.

Evidence Points To Violent Encounter

According to the arrest warrant affidavit filed by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, a search of Thomas's home revealed disturbing evidence. Investigators found what they described as "a significant amount of blood" and "multiple sharp objects and other weapons." This discovery suggests that a violent altercation may have occurred within the residence.

The affidavit also mentions surveillance footage that shows Abraham arriving at Thomas's apartment complex on Saturday. Witnesses reported seeing Thomas dragging a tarp down the stairs of the complex and loading it into Abraham's vehicle, further implicating him in the crime.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff Sid Gautreaux commented on the case, emphasizing the collaborative effort of multiple law enforcement agencies. Gautreaux stated:

I appreciate the work done by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police and Crime Lab, Baton Rouge Police Department, U.S. Marshal's Service and all others involved. This is an ongoing investigation that will take time to gather further evidence. I hope that this arrest may bring some closure and assurance to friends and family.

Speculation And Past Controversies Surface

As news of the charges spread, online discussions have brought up various aspects of both Thomas's and Abraham's pasts. Some social media users pointed to reports of Abraham's arrest in 2015 on accusations of inappropriately touching an 11-year-old client.

However, it's important to note that prosecutors declined to take that case to trial, and Abraham's former attorney clarified that Thomas was not the boy involved in that incident.

Thomas's online career has not been without controversy. According to the online database Know Your Meme, he had been accused of copying content from other creators. Some now-deleted videos reportedly showed Thomas expressing an unapologetic attitude about replicating others' work.

Legal Process Begins As Investigation Continues

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office has addressed some of the speculation, stating in a news release that "there is no evidence to suggest that Thomas was a client of Abraham." They also emphasized that the relationship between Thomas and Abraham and a potential motive for the crime are still under investigation.

As of the latest reports, Thomas remains in custody in Dallas, awaiting extradition to Louisiana. A court date has not yet been set, and it is unclear whether Thomas has secured legal representation. NBC News attempted to reach out to the management team listed on Thomas's profile for comment, but no response had been received at the time of reporting
